Deck Overview

My favorite thing about Cyclops is his Optic Blast ability. This deck is all about getting Ruby Quartz Visor into play early and using it as many times as possible! Mulligan is one of the most reliable ways to find specific cards you need, making it great for this strategy. Additionally, Scott Summers' ability to include X-Men allies from any aspect creates a lot of combos in the 'Pool aspect!

'Pool Synergies

Cyclops has the unique ability to play X-Men characters from any aspect! Combine that with the crazy things 'Pool can do, and suddenly a whole new world of combos opens up. I'll list some of my favorites here:

  • Beast + 'Pool Resources: When you are at full health, Self Confidence, Self Control, and Self Preservation become triple resources that you can recycle with Beast's ability!
  • Tic-Tac-Toe + Rogue: The Rogue ally can deal 1 damage to a friendly character to gain their traits and printed stats! Tic-Tac-Toe allows you to heal Rogue to keep her around longer or heal the character she touches if needed!
  • Polaris + 'Pool Resources: Having tough status cards is a great way to keep your health high and maintain the triple resource bonus from 'Pool cards. In the original draft, I included Armor, and she worked great as well!
  • Get Rage-y + Allies: Having access to an upgraded version of Get Ready when you can include any X-Men ally is incredibly powerful and fun!

Strategy

Stay at high health with Healing Factor, Tic-Tac-Toe, and your allies to make the most of the 'Pool resources. Your tactic upgrades are crucial to this deck. You can't use Optic Blast on an enemy without a tactic upgrade. My favorite one is Priority Target, which provides extra cards to leverage the high economy. Utilize the confuse status from Professor X, Dazzler, and Psylocke to safely switch to alter-ego form. Then, use Scott Summers' Constant Training ability to fetch whatever tactic upgrade you need—Exploit Weakness for final pushes, Practiced Defense when you need to preserve hp, and Priority Target when you have enough damage to defeat an enemy.

Cyclops's signature ally Phoenix is an incredible ally. My favorite combo is to have her search out Full Blast to turn Optic Blast into an 11 damage attack with piercing, ranged, and overkill! In my playthroughs I was able to take out Mister Sinister and overkill onto the villain! And that's not all, it also triggers Priority Target to draw 2 cards! By far one of the most satisfying combos in the game! Pixie can bring Phoenix back from the discard pile so you can do the combo again!

Deck Edits

Cyclops has some of the most diverse builds in the whole game. By no means is this list immutable. He is a mutant after all lol. Add in whatever X-Men or 'Pool cards that suit your play style and blast the villain!

Adding in cards like Avengers Mansion can increase the power of this deck because of how easy it is to afford expensive cards with the 'Pool resources. I didn't add it to this deck to stay more on theme, but if you are just looking for a strong deck it's worth considering!

Supporting Information: This perfect deck name is a combination of names from Mistrune and Zelr0n. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Additionally, Cyclops's alter-ego ability has fantastic synergy with the 'Pool aspect! More on that later!

Can you explain ?

@Lifeburst Well, he can pick the Pool aspect and still use any X-Men he wants!

@Lifeburst``@Alatreon Alatreon was right about what I was thinking when I wrote that, but thank you for helping me realize that was unclear! When I first read your comment I was trying to figure out what I was talking about and got mixed up. His ability to include allies from any aspect adds a lot of versatility to pool. There isn't a bunch of synergy with his ability to search for a tactic upgrade. I will edit the writeup to be clearer! :)
