Puppet Master

Watch Adam Warlock take down expert Venom Goblin here!

Respects to the Wild Tutor

First off, gotta pay respects to Brian V. and his amazing Wild Tutor Adam Warlock deck. Probably the most famous Marvel Champions deck in the world, and for good reason. It's innovative, powerful, and fun. Unfortunately, it goes entirely against my playstyle. When looking at decks on MarvelCDB, it's always important to tweak and change things to fit the way you want to play. I've had people tell me changes they make to my decks based on their preferences and I think that's really good for the game. With that in mind, events are my least favorite card type, I dislike building decks around status effects like stun/confuse, and I absolutely dread milling my own deck. For all those reasons, the Wild Tutor deck doesn't click with me. That being said, it's still an amazing deck and way cooler than this decklist I'm about to go into so definitely go check out his deck first.

Deck Concept

I know what you guys are thinking--no Summoning Spell?! No Magic Attack?! Where are those powerful Mystic Events? In this deck, we don't want to mill cards until we're ready to get the kill. The goal is the systematically get out our upgrades/supports in this order (do not play Warlock's Cape, it is not useful for this deck):

  1. The Sorcerer Supreme
  2. Mystic Senses
  3. Avengers Mansion
  4. Karmic Staff
  5. Tic-Tac-Toe
  6. The Triskleion
  7. Boot Camp
  8. Soul World

When I first looked into Adam Warlock's kit, I made 3 big notes:

  1. Warlock can include the strongest cards from each aspect and the strongest card type are allies... so let's include the strongest allies. Allies are versatile for every situation because they can thwart/attack/defense so they are helpful early game to help control the board and late game to finish the villain off.

  2. Warlock has tons of upgrade/supports. I love building out my board, so I went with the 'Pool resource cards to help pay for not only Warlock's identity specific upgrade/supports, but my own added ones like Avengers Mansion, Sorcerer Supreme, and Boot Camp.

  3. Warlock has no consistent source of big damage. For a way to garner big burst damage all at once, the allies compensate. Combining the most powerful allies across aspects with Boot Camp and Triskelion can easily do 15+ damage in a single turn. Tic-Tac-Toe is our core card, controlling the HP of our characters on the board and manipulating the allies in the way we want. In addition, it can pop off for 7 damage to add to our burst.

Quantum Magic

My favorite identity specific card from Adam Warlock is Quantum Magic. In my Venom Goblin playthrough, Advanced Glider came out round 1 and round 3. Quantum Magic tutored a 2nd copy of Karmic Blast on round 1, and Sunfire on round 3. Being able to search through the discard pile for what we need adds so much versatility and fun. We can grab Not my Responsibility to flip down safely or a Self Confidence to get a +1 resource if necessary. The combos are limitless.

Conclusion

Adam Warlock is quickly becoming one of my favorite heroes in Marvel Champions. His versatility is one of the best and has so many fun combos across the different aspects. This deck can take on all the most difficult scenarios in the game, hope you guys enjoy it!

@web-warrior fanatic im going to have to give this a shot. I had written Adam Warlock off and had not played him in ages. Andyr has a deck that convinced me to give him another shot and it was great. I love the concept of spamming allies without the typical leadership cards. Thanks for sharing!

@Castlefrank47 Andyr has awesome decks and a really good knack for the game. I hope you enjoy Adam Warlock with this deck—definitely lmk how it goes. Warlock’s power level is insane once he gets built out and ally spam is so much fun with Boot Camp and Tic-Tac-Toe :)

@Web-Warrior Fanatic so I finally got this on the table and it's absolutely outstanding. Every turn your able to put out a high cost ally and with boot camp, you can just decimate the villain. I did my first test against Mutagen Formula and I ran right through it. Excited to test more

Not to be a contrarian, but I think this deck is definitely more fun than the wild tutor deck. I just am really enjoying 'pool right now tho and really like how you build on Warlock's strengths with the addition of the 'pool resources.

No protection cards ? An equal number of cards for each aspects is obligatory, no ?

Pool aspect replaced protection in this build, @hkwagg

@jonnielawman Thank you! That means a lot :)

@rolipoli Thanks! I also prefer a slow buildout compared to event-heavy decks but it’s all preference at the end of the day.

@hkwagg Yes, as @Scydrex said only 4 aspects are required and ‘Pool can replace 1
