Matchup:

I paired Wolverine against Master Mold because Master Mold punishes you more than any other Mutant Genesis villain for leaving Hero form, and Wolverine loves to stay in hero form more than any other X-Men hero. I gave Wolverine the Aggression aspect to have plenty of attacks to use the claws on.

This scenario gives the gift of the busted Magneto ally, who packs 2 THW, 3 ATK, and gets free hits when he kills sentinel minions. With him providing 3 damage a turn for free, we can adopt a racing strategy that allows us to ignore several encounter cards as we focus on reducing the villain's hp to zero.

Gameplan

The goal is to spend the whole game in Hero form. The extra point of hand size in AE is not worth Mold putting a Sentinel minion into play, and we'll have plenty of allies to block and ways to heal.

Because we anticipate the game to only last 3-4 turns and are staying in hero form, we can ignore the main scheme and basically every side scheme (although defeating Insert Virus Program could actually be a more efficient way to do damage in some circumstances).

Card choices:

3x Clobber, 3x Piercing Strike. Increasing the damage output and giving more options to use the Claws on a given turn.

3x Hand Cannon. I'm not sure on this one since the games are too fast to get full use out of it. Still, the overkill was really nice when it came up to have efficient damaging turns.

2x Sidearm. Definitely a flex spot, but here to take advantage of the free Magneto ally.

0x anything to do with thwarting. This is just not the game plan. Attack, attack, attack. All side schemes can be ignored, and if you're in hero form all game, you don't have to worry about the main scheme.

Game review: 3 win, 0 loss

These were such fast games, I had fun running it back a couple times to see if it was consistent. Between Magneto and Claws, the damage output is so high it's just a race to the finish and hope you stay alive. The game plan of ignoring schemes and staying in hero mode worked to perfection. Two of my games lasted 3 turns and the third lasted 4.

Next time

The fourth and final entry in this Heroic Roulette cycle is Mansion Attack (I coudn't beat Magneto). I underestimated this scenario at first, but took down it with the best hero of the wave, Storm. Hope to see you there!
