Magneto's kit often wants to play itself, but the power of the Ronin archetype cards competes well with the kit. Early game you really need to raise your defense when you don't have allies, and late game In Harm's Way is powerful. This deck uses Plasma Pistol to knock off toughs with Repurpose for higher stats. Most of the events are used to repeatedly ready and are useful in the mid game. Superpower Training is there for Magneto's Cape (for the Ever Vigilant events) if you can't find it early, but Magneto's Helmet is expensive and easier to get with the side scheme. Magneto's Armor is the whole reason a 50-card deck works; you want more cards between your Magnetic cards for bonuses.
You could remove the Ronin archetype cards and insert Polaris, Armor, and great X-men for a fasterl deck. That would remove the setup time needed to develop a high defense, but I'm still loving the Ronin style, and I find the readies and decisions here more fun to play.
The Best Offense... belongs in the Ronin Archetype, but then Magneto's Armor loses value, and I wanted more events for the early game. At some point you have to cap the upgrades to survive the setup. Reluctantly I also cut X-Gene (you rarely need to go down), Dauntless, and a Plasma Pistol to add more event cards. Depending on the scenario/villain, you can cut some Desperate Defense and Plasma Pistols and add something like 3 Stun Guns for vulnerable minions or Taunts for villains that don't attack as strongly.
