Black Panther - Wakanda defense grid

Shuri doesn't need to choose between defending, attacking and thwarting.

She builds the right technology and does all three at once.

This Protection deck turns every basic activation into an opportunity to trigger one of Shuri's BLACK PANTHER upgrades, while a strong defensive package gives her additional activations during the villain phase.

Invent the Panther

In alter-ego, Inventor exhausts Shuri to search for a BLACK PANTHER or TECH upgrade and put it directly into play with its cost reduced by 2.

That makes her remarkably good at assembling her suit.

It also means her upgrades aren't precious museum pieces.

They're meant to be used.

Choose Your Special

Whenever Black Panther uses a basic power, Response triggers the Special ability of one BLACK PANTHER upgrade you control.

Once her equipment is assembled, every activation comes with a choice.

Panther Claws deals 2 damage, or can be discarded to deal 3 more with piercing.

Vibranium Suit moves damage from Shuri to an enemy, or can be discarded to give her Tough.

Kimoyo Beads removes threat, or can be discarded to confuse an enemy.

Spider Bites damages the villain and every minion engaged with a chosen player — and can be discarded to do it again.

Pick the tool the situation requires.

Wakandan Recycling

Discarding those upgrades isn't the end of them.

Aja-Adanna can shuffle an identity-specific card from your discard pile back into your deck.

Then Shuri can use Inventor to find the BLACK PANTHER upgrade again and rebuild it at a discount.

Use the technology.

Break the technology.

Build better technology.

The Ops Room

Protection gives Shuri another way to exploit her basic powers: defend.

Armored Vest and Defensive Conditioning can push her defense well beyond her printed DEF 2, while Not Today!, Defensive Stance and the rest of the Protection package keep her standing.

Then Ops Room makes those defenses even more productive.

Prevent damage.

Remove threat.

Trigger a BLACK PANTHER Special.

One defense can solve several problems at once.

Protect Wakanda

The allies provide another defensive layer while Shuri assembles her technology, with Wakandan and S.H.I.E.L.D. support backing her up.

Once the suit is online, however, Shuri becomes the engine herself.

Attack and trigger a Special.

Thwart and trigger a Special.

Defend and trigger another Special.

And whenever one piece of technology has given everything it can?

Throw it away and invent it again.
