"Relax, chère. Remy knows what he's doing."
Gambit is a remarkably balanced hero, and this deck leans into everything he does well: control threat, confuse the villain, move between Hero and Alter-Ego, and turn a little calculated risk into a lot of damage.
Control the Game
Gambit does not need to stay in Hero form to manage threat.
Thief Extraordinaire lets Remy remove threat while in Alter-Ego, while Breaking and Entering and For Justice! provide plenty of additional threat control.
That gives Gambit room to flip frequently and take advantage of his 6-card Alter-Ego hand.
Keep Them Confused
Battlefield Benevolence is perfect for Gambit.
Healing 2 damage from the villain is a small price to pay for Confuse, especially when it gives Remy a safe opportunity to return to Alter-Ego.
Once Float Like a Butterfly is in play, Confuse also becomes offensive. Gambit and his allies deal an additional damage whenever they attack the confused villain.
Heal 2 now. Make them pay for it later.
Take a Little Risk
Swift Retribution fits Gambit's style perfectly.
Let the villain scheme and deal 4 damage for only 1 resource. Justice gives you the tools to clean up the threat afterward.
Better yet, it is an ATTACK event.
Save three charge counters and Gambit's Throw de Card turns Swift Retribution into 7 damage for 1 resource.
Sometimes the best way to control the game is to let the villain think he is winning.
Exploit Every Side Scheme
Chance Encounter and Followed turn side schemes into opportunities.
Finish one and you can find the ally you need or deal additional damage while doing something you already wanted to do: remove threat.
The allies provide additional thwarting, attacking and defense while Gambit handles the rest.
Play Like Gambit
This deck doesn't rely on one giant combo.
Confuse creates safe Alter-Ego turns. Alter-Ego controls threat and gives you bigger hands. Justice keeps the schemes under control. Charge counters turn cheap attacks into serious damage.
Take risks when you can afford them.
Clean up the mess afterward.
And always keep an ace up your sleeve, chère.
