Why choose between attack, thwart and defense when DEF can do all three? DEFinitely Offensive is built around pushing DEF as high as possible and then weaponising it.
The early game is about setting up permanent DEF boosts and turning the hero into a brick wall. Once the engine is online, The Best Offense... converts that inflated DEF into both ATK and THW, meaning every defensive upgrade suddenly starts pulling triple duty.
From there, ready effects let us exploit that oversized stat multiple times in the same round, while cards like In Harm's Way turn DEF directly into damage and threat removal.
The end result is a Protection deck that doesn't just survive attacks. It builds one enormous defensive stat and then uses it to do practically everything else.
Build the wall. Then hit them with it.
