Many Psylocke decks focus on her amazing ability to generate resources with her permanent weapons. These are awesome decks, and I have played many. This deck has a different take, capitalizing on Psylocke’s numerous Confuse identity events to allow her to do most of the dirty work in Alter-Ego form without risking losing via Villain Schemes. Once Psylocke gets set up with the proper Supports and Upgrades, she Confuses the villain, switches to Betsy Braddock, and takes advantage of numerous card draw and resource discounts to set up a massive turn in Hero form. The hardest thing about this deck is keeping the Villain confused. This can be done with Psionic Redirect and Flurry of Blades, Psionic Training, Upside the Head, and the classic Professor X.
Because this deck revolves around building up big turns in Alter-Ego form, you will require a lot of Upgrades and Supports. Start by prioritizing Children of the Atom! It seems counterintuitive but it will boost the effectiveness of Team-Building Exercise and Cerebro, and enable the use of The X-Jet. Once Children of the Atom is out, focus on Supports that give you card draw: X-Bunker, Weapon X, and Cerebro. X-Bunker and Weapon X don’t have to be used to search for a specific card, they are mostly around to give you more resources to set up huge turns in Hero form to play your most expensive and best damage event, Flurry of Blades, and get your Allies on the board. As an added bonus, most of the Upgrades and Supports are already cheap, and share a trait with your hero, making them even cheaper with Team-Building Exercise. In fact, The X-Jet is great but pricey: I wouldn’t try to play it early, it’s often a good mid-game play when you find yourself with an abundance of resources.
Professor X is a lynchpin of this operation just as he is for many other decks. Most importantly, he allows you to confuse the Villain while you are still in Betsy Braddock form. If the Villain is already Confused, thanks to Team-Building Exercise he or Angel are 2 cost Readies. Psylocke’s Training cards are great but are not super important for this deck, so don’t prioritize them. You will find yourself with turns where they fit in nicely because of all the extra resources you have. Finally, in the late game you will be able to Basic Attack and Ready multiple times by playing Allies, deal 6 damage with Flurry of Blades, and often wipe out a Villain stage in a single turn in solo.
I hope people find this fun, I really wanted to utilize Psylocke’s ability to safely spend time in Alter-Ego form. Let me know if you enjoy the deck and give me your feedback!
