This deck combines Maya's Practice Makes Perfect ability with Ready for a Fight. The idea is that you go to Alter every turn and come back out in the Villain phase cherry picking the best defense card you can.
Use Defensive Training to put that defense card into you deck if needed and take advantage of Hidden Base for the tough as well.
If you have both Improvisation and Flow like Water out, each defense card will do and extra damage and threat removal.
Finally, yes, this deck is listed as 48 cards but this is one of the few times I wish this site allowed a Sideboard. All those 1x events will be scenario and table dependent. The only defense cards I consider permanent additions is Powerful Punch and Get Their Attention.
