Deck Overview: "The Hub"This is an absolute control powerhouse. It makes flawless use of Natasha Romanoff’s ability to weave an invisible web of Preparation cards, leaving the villain completely paralyzed in the mid and late game. The absolute key here is the unmatched S.H.I.E.L.D. economy, driven by the scientist duo Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons while in Alter-Ego form. With just a tiny bit of setup, you can single-handedly lock down the threat and cancel the most treacherous encounter cards for the entire table.I have run this deck in true solo as well as 2p, 3p, and 4p games. Once your engine is established, you strip the villain of every dangerous move while contributing steady, high damage through Followed and your explosive Dance of Death.Player Type: Spike (Competitive / Strategic Controller)Player Count: 1 – 4pKey Cards: Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, Agent Coulson, Grappling HookComplexity: ★★★★☆Damage: ★★★★☆Threat Control: ★★★★★Survivability: ★★★★★Economy / Resources: ★★★★★Card Drawing: ★★★★☆
Deck DescriptionMulligan PrioritiesThrow away anything that doesn’t build your economic foundation on turn one. Your absolute top priorities are your resource generators and tutors: aggressively look for Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, Black Widow's Gauntlet, or Safe House #29. Getting these pieces into play during turns 1 or 2 essentially guarantees a win.Early Game (The Alter-Ego Turn 1 Dream)This deck safely starts in Alter-Ego form, which is where the magic happens. Because Natasha possesses the printed S.H.I.E.L.D. trait on her Alter-Ego card, the resource cost to play Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons is reduced from 3 to an unbeatable 1 resource each! Exhaust Fitz immediately to tutor Black Widow's Gauntlet (TECH) straight out of your deck, and pay for it using Jemma's mental resource. Don't be afraid to stay down in Alter-Ego for the first two rounds—thanks to Under Observation and Counterintelligence, the villain cannot advance the main scheme while you build your spy network.Hero Form (Counter-Attack & Complete Lock)The moment you flip to Hero form, the trap snaps shut. Every time the villain attacks or reveals a nasty encounter card, trigger a preparation like Grappling Hook (to cancel treacheries) or Acrobatic Move (to prevent damage). Best of all: thanks to Natasha's Hero ability, every time a preparation triggers, you immediately draw a card! With the Synth-Suit equipped, you also ready back up after triggering a prep, effectively doubling your action efficiency each round. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Loop (The Finisher)Use Agent Coulson to constantly fish out fresh preparation cards from your deck or discard pile. Since your board will soon be flooded with S.H.I.E.L.D. cards (Helicarrier, Sky-Destroyer, Fitz, Simmons), the cost of your Winter Soldier permanently drops to 0 resources—giving you a free 2/2 attacker or blocker every single cycle! When you defeat side schemes with your massive thwart events, Followed triggers to automatically blast an enemy for 4 damage. Finish off the villain with Dance of Death, which effortlessly shatters Tough status cards.
Let them think they have the upper hand. By the time they realize they are trapped in my web, it is already too late.
