Last month I published a joke Grey Gamora deck. Rather than just leave it at that I decided to try the deck out against every villain. Played on Standard because I actually wanted to beat VG, Ronan, ect. I did play with VillainTheory's recommended mod sets to change things up and adjust difficulty. Turned it up on easy villains and turned it down for the big baddies.
What was published earlier was really just a bunch of Basic cards with Guardian allies. After playing a few games I changed it up quite a bit and this is mostly what took down all 59 villains (I don't have FNE yet so those will be played soon).
Certain villains required a few changes. Best cards to sub out are Emergency, Build Support, and Honorary Guardian. Notable adds were Mockingbird, Prof X,First Aid, and Target Acquired.
I always kept the deck at 40 cards, Assess is a great card in this deck.
Some notes worth mentioning:
I am really big on Conditioning Room now. I put build support in to help find it early in games that you can flip down a lot. Build Support is the first card to omit if a scenario is too punishing to flip. Mulligan is for finding Keen Instincts and Conditioning Room, and just priming the bottom of the Discard pile with thwarts and attacks. You don't need Multitalented turn one, it is good to toss here. Other considerations are Set the Pace and Decisive Blow to set up a combo in a later turn (or keep if you draw both).
Emergency isn't a complete waste. 95% of the time it is a resource, which is fine. It is also a thwart, which lets it get drawn in AE if it is on top of the deck. I did save at least one game (out of almost 100) by keeping the scheme from maxing out, and while playing Leader Vision I killed him off with an Emergency played of an advance using Precision when he was at 1 health. Most memorable game of the bunch.
Gilgamesh also did tons of work in this deck, he turned out to be my favorite ally of the bunch. The confuse he gives you is easy enough to manage in this deck; Set the Pace, an Emergency, or just using a basic activation get the job done and are well worth it, at least in this deck.
