The Civil War wave has introduced to Marvel Champions several excellent Avenger allies in the Justice aspect. Dare I say it now rivals the selection of Avenger allies in Leadership. However, one then loses the tried-and-true tools for Avenger ally swarms like Mighty Avengers, Team Training, and The Triskelion. Enter Spider-Woman!

This multi-aspect wonder allows all the Justice allies to benefit from these Leadership supports. On top of that, as an Avenger hero, attach Avenge Me! to them to boost card draw. Skilled Investigator and Mission Leader dial this up to 11 when an ally defeats a side scheme while also defeating themselves with consequential damage.

Now, even with two copies of Finesse, additional resource generation is needed since a number of these allies are pricey to put into play. This deck uses twice the number of basic cards that I usually like to include for SW. However, the goal is not to max out her base stats using Superhuman Agility, but to lead a team of allies. Plus, there is a good deal of consistent card draw to cycle through the deck.

Therefore, the combo of Avengers Tower and Team-Building Exercise is dynamite. Exhaust the Tower to reduce the cost of the next Avenger ally played. Then exhaust TBE to reduce the cost of the next card played from your hand that shares a trait with your hero. That a 2-cost discount for an Avenger ally when SW is in hero form. So now even Justice Spider-Man is just 3 resources.

Priority plays in the first deck pass are Mighty Avengers and Avengers Tower (which not only discounts allies but adds another ally slot). Team-Building Exercise is nice but not as good as Finesse. Similarly, Deft Focus is nice to have to help play SW’s events, especially Contaminant Immunity as she’ll be defending for her allies, but Finesse is better.

The best target for Call for Backup is SW’s signature ally Captain Marvel, since Finesse cannot be used to play her and she immediately adds card draw. Try to wait for Mission Leader and Skilled Investigator to be on the table so that when the side scheme is cleared you draw an additional two cards. If Chance Encounter is attached to that side scheme, bring White Tiger to hand and play her immediately to draw cards again. There are some wild sequencing loops in this deck.

Around this core design there is breathing room for adjustments. If several other heroes have player side schemes in their deck, swap out Quake for Manifold. Perhaps even add Float Like a Butterfly to amp up the damage when SW uses her Pheromones on the villain.

Another optional inclusion that can be cut for deck size or scenarios is Jarvis. In my testing against Rhino and Klaw our hero was getting stunned and confused quite a lot. A boost to recovery is also nice since, again, SW will be defending for her allies more than usual. More basic player side schemes, especially Evaluate Threat, could be included depending on the multiplayer team composition. Played it at the local game store 4-player as is and it's easy to pilot. Mission Leader was the MVP.

Now, it’s thwarting time!
