MK-Ultra was a failed government experiment of mind control. Or that's what they tell you. Nick Fury embraces the dark side of the government in this deck, and achieves victory no matter the cost.

Deck Overview

The goal of this deck is to run a preparation focused Nick Fury, specifically taking advantage of the Secret Agent upgrade. In game terms, this is a control deck, focusing on manipulating the scenario to your advantage and managing threat. Alright, let's break it down.

Early Game Focuses

The biggest priority is obviously Fury's Flying Car. It literally doubles the amount Nick can thwart every turn, as well as increasing your damage potential when the situation calls. Paired with Heroic Intuition and Heroic Conditioning, Nick will thwart 8 threat every turn without using a single event. Also make sure to play Secret Agent when it enters your hand, as it will make all of your preparations a lot stronger and accelerate the threat income on your suit. You will notice that over half of this deck is composed of upgrades. Since this is a preparation deck, you will do a lot of your action in the villain phase, and spend your player phase setting up. Don't be scared if your teammates are doing a lot more in the player phase. Your time to shine is the villain phase.

MK-Ultra

As I said before, MK-Ultra was a failed government experiment(and also a great song by Muse). It was a drug made to make prisoners give the government information but didn't work. Nick Fury doesn't follow the rules though, he has his own formula, represented by the combo of Stealth along with Sting Operation and Informant. The basic concept is this: you get engaged with a non-elite minion, but luckily, you don't have to do any damage to it to defeat it. Once the villain phase arises, the minion tries to scheme against you. Unfortunately for him, you discard Informant, so his scheme actually helps you. Then, you discard Sting Operation, and the minion is gone. You also get extra threat removal from Secret Agent. By the way, Nick Fury can use MK-Ultra on Orion, his nemesis, who happens to lack the elite trait. The combo is very satisfying to pull off, and is pretty efficient as well. Just make sure you're playing down those preparations though.

Allies If you get Maria Hill, play her! She is the easiest way to get a lot of threat on your suit. When she gets down to 1 health, save her until you pull your team up. Agent Coulson is amazing and really versatile, as he summons whatever preparation you need. Quake is a great alternate method to kill minions that engage you, especially elite ones. Nick Fury, Sr. provides a tough and a sack for a teammate, and Grant Ward is a cheap but risky way to get some damage or thwarting.

End Game Focuses

Once you are fully built out, you can focus fully on control. Use Intelligence to be prepared for your encounter cards, and Intelligence Analysis and Spycraft to block nasty treacheries and skip unwanted encounter cards. Take full advantage of Practiced Plan to recur your favorite preps, as well as trigger Secret Agent. To tie in MK-Ultra to the control, you can use Intelligence to make sure that you are delt the non-elite minions. Once you have enough threat on your suit, you can contribute to rushing down the villain. If you can't get back to Stealth, don't be scared to flip down. For knowing when to rush, you can do a guaranteed 10 damage per turn at the cost of 7 threat just using your basic attack activation.

Final Thoughts

This deck has worked very well for me. It keeps a nice balance of being effective as well as thematic. Justice is definitely Nick's best aspect, and I always love leaning into preparations. I hope you enjoy using it, and please leave recommendations, critiques, and advice in the comments!
