Fasten your Seatbelts
Wonder Man has the Aerial trait, so I, well, wondered if there was something interesting to build around that. Little did I know that, of all the cards, the real gem was in the resource department. The Power of Flighthas an Energy resource and you can include it three times in your deck. Wonder Man already comes with Energy Siphon, so I went with a resource package that was just waiting to generate value.
At this point, Wonder Man was rich and could choose which script he wanted to play—as long as we stayed Aerial. And that was just the beginning.
## Welcome to the Oscars
With that many resources, I went with Leadership. It already offers a strong selection of Aerial allies. So now it was time to select the cast. After basically nominating every card that said “Aerial,” I settled on an ally package that is almost unkillable:
[Adam Warlock](/card/17011) can become a guaranteed healing machine. Because of him, I added two [Reinforced Suit](/card/12018)s to the deck. You’ve got to stay in shape in this business—and if you can’t, it’s good if the suit does it for you.
[Aero](/card/53015) and [Cloud 9](/card/29014) can both stay on the board for a long time without taking consequential damage. They are just all around solid.
[Cannonball](/card/42020) is another ally who has a lot of staying power in this deck.
[Captain Marvel](/card/23013)was an easy inclusion for thematic reasons, but she also checks every box mechanically. This deck can actually afford her steep cost, she has Aerial, she provides an Energy resource, and her ability will very likely stun the villain.
[Kaluu](/card/21014) doesn’t have Aerial, but being able to fish for an event is extremely powerful in this deck.
[Nick Fury](/card/01084) is usually an auto-include in my Avengers decks. I love how he thematically carries the early turns—literally showing up to “brief” you and give you what you need. Here, drawing three extra cards is even juicier since you’re digging for resources—especially if a single Energy Siphon paid for him. You also need him for a "Snakes on a Plane" Reference.
[Sunspot](/card/40016) is an obvious pick. Fly straight to value town.
## After the Oscars: Events keep on coming
On top of that, with [Aerial Intervention](/card/42014), [Bombs Away](/card/58017), and [Everywhere All at Once](/card/58018), I included three events with an Energy resource that also have the Aerial trait. Because, well, it seems that some designer put it out there waiting to be found.
[Aerial Intervention](/card/42014) is great because you often use your health as a resource. Taking hits instead of chump blocking—knowing that [Ionic Physiology](/card/58002) and/or [Adam Warlock](/card/17011) can heal you—is often the right play. It’s good to have another tool to manage your health.
[Bombs Away](/card/58017) is simply excellent in this deck. That card alone can solve many minion swarm situations.
[Everywhere All at Once](/card/58018) pairs beautifully with your hero card Active Altruism, giving you both strong single-target and multi-target threat removal. It also is only a word away from a really excellent movie.
## Support
[Avengers Mansion](/card/01091) is here because if you’re running that many resources, you want more cards. [Quincarrier](/card/13025) gives you that wild ressource to remove critical equipment, which this deck can struggle with. It's also another Engine card that you can cheat out with Energy Siphon. [The Triskelion](/card/01073) is a natural fit since many of your allies stick around for a long time.
# How to Play This
## Early Game / Build-Up:
Generally, you want to get as many of Wonder Man’s upgrades into play as possible. Starting with [Energy Siphon](/card/58006), [Nick Fury](/card/01084), and/or [Avengers Mansion](/card/01091) in your opening hand is a beautiful sight. Play a bit risky early on: your health is a resource, and your board can stabilize quickly.
If you draw [Adam Warlock](/card/17011), play him and never look back. If you find a [Reinforced Suit](/card/12018), attach it to him immediately. That combo consistently heals 3 every turn.
[Jet Belt](/card/58008) is absolutely critical. It’s one of the few ways to free up space under Ionic Physiology while still keeping your little healing engine online.
Use [Energy Siphon](/card/58006) aggressively to get ahead. The villain will lose the value game. Once you drop to low HP, stabilize the board. You should have no problem removing threat—[Active Altruism](/card/58003), [Everywhere All at Once](/card/58018), and your many allies form a very efficient threat-control package that allows you to safely flip to Alter-Ego.
**The Alter-Ego dream turn looks like this:**
When switching to Alter-Ego, use [Signature Sunglasses](/card/58010) and/or [Wonder Fans](/card/58007) to tuck a card under [Ionic Physiology](/card/58002). Next turn, use [Wonder Fans](/card/58007) plus [Avengers Mansion](/card/01091) to draw. Flip to hero form and use [Signature Sunglasses](/card/58010) to retrieve the card you saved. Suddenly you’re looking at a massive 9-card hand—probably packed with resources.
## Notable Cards I Didn’t Pick
[Deft Focus](/card/16024) was an option, but resources aren’t an issue here. I also have a personal rule: I want at least six Superpower cards before I consider including it.
[Falcon](/card/03011) is a very solid choice for this deck. In the end, I passed on him because this build doesn’t really need additional threat management, and he doesn’t provide an Energy resource. He ultimately lost out to [Cloud 9](/card/29014), who offers more consistent threat control in this list.
## Multiplayer Considerations
Make a list of movie classics involving flying: Lord of the Flies. The Fly. Flight Risk. Up in the Air. Then get ready to mildly annoy your teammates by sprinkling them into conversation as you play.
If you’re going Aerial, commit to the bit.
