Interrupt – This is something that can happen before a triggering condition applies in any phase.
Response – This is something that can happen after a triggering condition applies in any phase.
Defiance (Interrupt) discards the boost card, before it is turned face up. This negates any boost effect in addition to the icons. Another energy resource event, it can also be tucked under Ionic Physiology. As a Defense event, Jocasta can tutor it from discard and hold it until needed.
As is Preemptive Strike (Interrupt), also an energy traited event, which cancels the boost icons when the boost card is turned faceup, turning those icons into damage on the villain.
Foiled! (Interrupt) cancels the boost icons as an interrupt when the boost card is turned face up. Foiled! is an event with an energy resource, so it can be tucked under Ionic Physiology.
Swordsman (Response) defends without exhausting, AFTER the boost card is turned face-up. The boost icons have been canceled, so the ATK stat (a known quantity) can be prepared for.
If he will take damage, Stronger Together (Interrupt) reduces damage to Swordsman equal to the hero’s DEF, buffed by Armored Vest and Defensive Conditioning.
With both Wonder Man and Swordsman unexhausted from defending, they can launch a Unified Strike in the player phase. Possibly linked together through Iron Lad’s action.
