Venom's hero ability Symbiotic Bond can be used in the villain phase to power Defense cards (or Excelsior!), especially helpful for those with resource requirements: Jump Flip, Side Step, Grasping Tendrils.
Venom's Pistol cards have Hero Interrupt, so they can boost DEF as well as ATK and THW.
Defense events are included here to accelerate the potential for card draw from Change of Fortune: Powerful Punch, Stop Hitting Yourself. Playing them using Defensive Energy draws an additional card.
What Doesn't Kill Me and Preservation offer a bit of healing. Ready for a Fight ensures a safe flip to alter-ego for recovery and/or a little love from Project Rebirth 2.0.
