Winning Hand podcast Episode 89: Strength in Diversity

Our multi-aspect heroes are on theme for this featured card. In the episode, mention was made of the REDEEMED trait when clearing Show of Empathy and gaining a minion as an ally with Redemption attached. The hero best able to leverage this card synergy with Strength in Diversity (Leadership) and Show of Empathy (Justice) is Spider-Woman (who has two hero traits herself). After all, Jessica Drew’s journey from Hydra to Hero is one of redemption, too.

Gamer greed was also much discussed on the podcast, so rather than maximizing efficiency with an array of allies, this deck focuses on diversity within a team, namely The Avengers. This opens more ally slots with Avenger’s Tower and Stinger along with The Triskelion. It also means that in hero form, Mighty Avengers can be online to boost output from allies.

A key to this team is Manifold (Avenger, Wakanda) who tutors Show of Empathy from deck or discard when a minion target for Redemption is on the table.

Black Panther (Avenger, Wakanda) tutors Strength in Diversity from discard and holds it until ready.

Other Avengers allies (Justice, Leadership) with additional trait(s):

Giant-Man (Avenger, Giant)

Kaluu (Avenger, Mystic)

Quake (Avenger, SHIELD)

Vision (Android, Avenger) – if the FFG FAQ ruling on Finesse hasn’t been amended, this resource generator can be used to power Vision’s ability.

*Hawkeye (Avengers, SHIELD) – a Justice ally version in the Hercules hero pack

*Thor (Asgard, Avenger) – a Leadership ally version coming in the Hercules hero pack

Finally, given the discussion on the podcast, this deck is also designed with the specific hero in mind and not constructed solely around SID. Spider-Woman wants low-cost aspect cards to trigger her Superhuman Agility. Clear the Area and Turn the Tide supplement her hero-specific/aspect events.
