Deck Overview

Player Type: Johnny
Player Count: 3 - 4p
Key Cards: Anticipated Attack, Iron Will
Complexity: ★★★★★
Damage: ★★★☆☆
Threat Control: ★☆☆☆☆
Survivability: ★★★★★
Economy: ★★★★★
Card Drawing: ★★★★★

Colossus can defend the table as good as any other top-tier defensive hero build, and maybe even better!

Draw a lot of cards and it's easy to pivot into dealing damage to move the game along. This deck has been played in a variety of expert 3-4p games and it essentially prevents damage to even the hardest-hitting villains, including Ronan and Juggernaut.

The most important thing is to get a PSS into the victory display quickly, so Astonishing X-Men is here since it has a very low threat threshold that does not scale in larger player counts!

Defend for the table as much as you can, drawing cards with Unflappable and Iron Will. Anticipated Attack is the clear MVP of the deck and will fill your hand with cards, so get a PSS into the victory display as fast as possible.

It isn't unusual to start the hero phase with 6-8 cards after defending multiple times, and you have to lean into losing those tough cards in favor of cards hand and preventing damage for the team.

Feel free to Nyet-deck it and try it for yourself!

Do you take enough damage from tanking attacks to make use Angel's Aerie?

Ready for a Fight is amazing with him! Good call.

@josseroo some games yes, some games no. When I take damage, it helps to heal. It’s also a cheap target for Caught Off Guard when you need it.

Interesting take on Colo, I don't usually defend much with him. I'll have to try this out

I don't know why I get so much joy out of Nerves of Steel being in a Colossus deck. This looks awesome!

@Castlefrank47 I played this throughout the con weekend and it holds up and can defend the table at 3-4p. Anticipated Attack is the MVP here and allows so much defense and card draw.

@Astrodar it’s really nice for hitting his defense events! And saving your hero cards for when you’re ready to punch on your turn.

This deck saved my life…in the game! Really cool to see Colossus do defend the table and do it so dang well!

@boomguy that's awesome! I'll have to give it a go, I wasn't doubting that it could I just haven't played Colo defending much hope it didn't come off that way!

I've been playing Ready for a Fight with a few heroes, and I oftentimes play with 2-3 copies of Practiced Plan so that I can recur the effect turn-after-turn. I'm curious to know why your deck has no copies of Practiced Plan.

Thank you. :)

@CaptnSpandex Thanks for checking out the deck! I didn’t include it because it’s more setup, and with this deck I was drawing my deck so fast that I always had either Ready for a Fight or Armor Up in hand. But you could totally make that change if you want!

Hey Boomguy! I love to see Colossus using toughs to block attacks. So often, toughs just feel like a resource counter with him. This looks like an excellent deck and I'm eager to try it. Great work! Thanks for all that you do for the community!

@MAXFightMan Aww, thank you! This was maybe my favorite deck from the Con of Heroes 2025 and reminded me why I love Colossus so much! I hope you have a great time with it.

I was curious if you ever try to run CoF and maybe Powerful Punch? I also tend to prefer Defiance over Preemptive in more difficult scenarios.

Jul 11, 2025 boomguy · 13715

@LateNiteGames those are totally options! But this is meant to defend the table in MP so it’s pretty singularly focused in defending rather than killing minions. But you could totally go that route!

After playing this, I’m wondering how you use it to deal with threat in solo? Seemed like allies were the only threat removal basically since Colossus is exhausted from defending all the time

Oct 05, 2025 tmisp · 2

Bait and Switch seems like a good simple addition

Oct 05, 2025 boomguy · 13715

@tmisp this is 100% no intended to be a solo deck! You should be defending for the table in 3-4p games with this.

Oh i saw the solo tag and thought it was at first but makes sense now!
