Shake and Bay-ke: Second Edition

I published a very similar list a few years back, and it has remained a favorite of mine. There are only a few updates, but they have been impactful. I'm bringing this to Con of Heroes 2025, so I figured it was time for an update. I'll cut the fluff and get right to the goodies.

There are two halves of this deck, and each serves an important part for keeping Rocket up and running.

The "Live So You Can Do Stuff" Half:

Groot, Shake It Off, and Hangar Bay combo together to keep you healthy. Groot takes a hit, heals two, and gives you the trigger for Shake It Off (a cheap Tough). Now he can ready with Hangar Bay, take another full hit, and heal two more. This dude is staying around. This is one of my favorite combos in the game.

The "Do Stuff" Half:

Use your allies, tech, and Repurpose to get stuff done. You want your techs out, and you want to use some of them for Repurpose. Don't be scared to burn your big guns. Salvage and Fitz will help get them back.

That's it. You don't need any more info to rock this deck. But here is more info anyway.

Allies:

• Gamora: Just good, Guardian value.
• Groot: He's the linchpin of the defense half of the deck.
• Martinex: He's a dude. He's got HP. Yup.
• Moon Girl: Just good, Genius value.
• Starhawk: Just good, Guardian value.

Events:

• Flora and Fauna: Groot is going to be out most of the game. This is pure value.
• Repurpose: Ready and stat boost. You are the flex hero, so thwart or attack as needed. Don't defend, that's ridiculous.
• Shake It Off: Give yourself, Groot, or any other Guardian a Tough. Mostly Groot though.

Resources:

• So many of them. Too many? Use them on C.I.T.T.

Support:

• C.I.T.T.: Get an extra ready. While I don't use it every turn, it's going to get you extra use from your Repurpose turns.
• Hangar Bay: Keep Groot doing Groot things.
• Jemma Simmons: Want to cut a card? Cut this one.
• Knowhere: Starhawk's best friend. Get your cards here.
• Med Team: Extra heals! Top off Groot if needed.
• The Night Nurse: Why would you not bring this card?

Upgrade:

• Energy Barrier: Keep some damage off you, and burn them for Repurpose.
• Ingenuity: Rocket is smart. We are smart for including this.
• Pinned Down: This is a Con of Heroes special. I am including this for the Thunderbolts that I know will be around. Feel free to cut these!

Exclusions:

• Side Holster: You're burning through your tech fast enough that you can get away without it. Add it if you want it!
• What Doesn't Kill Me: You could add it to get some extra readies and healing, but at a certain point, Groot is taking the bulk of your damage. I dropped it because it missed a lot between HP and Requirement.
• Forcefield Barrier: You could add this one, but I found myself preferring to spend my money elsewhere.
• Professor X / Nick Fury / Ironheart: All great. Professor X especially is useful. They are more important in low player counts, so I skipped them for the con.
• Moon Girl: Sike! I added her already.

This deck isn't anything ground breaking, but I have a ton of fun with it. I hope you have fun with it as well!
