Why Shadowcat in Leadership? She can defend and not take damage and then you get to use your allies. It also makes "You Got This!" good because Shadowcat doesn't need chump blocks as much as other heroes barring multiple activations. That said, even if you have multiple activations, your allies are generally cheap and plentiful. Especially once you get Uncanny X-Men into play. With this deck, Shadowcat can have a bunch of readies between "You Got This!", Utopia, and Shadowcat Surprise. So, it's usually not hard to do some combination of attacking and thwarting in a round and be in phased form during the villain phase.
The deck has a lot of resource generators. That said, Uncanny X-Men is the most important card to have out. It saves you so many resources over the course of the game and allows you to use your allies more before they are used up, use for blocking, or get used for "You Got This!", providing a ready. This deck can usually put out multiple allies in a turn once you get your economy going. Face the Past will help with a ready and extra economy. It's also nice to take out The White Queen so you can focus on killing her and not having to deal with her side scheme at the same time.
Being that this decks likes cheap X-Men that can do a lot, New Recruits is excellent. Especially, considering it's free to play and can be thwarted immediately in a solo game. I'm surprised I don't see this player side scheme in more decks.
Enjoy!
