Alright, I know what you are thinking. Angel is not a good Sidekick...he has a play effect, and his stats aren't anything special. I know, I thought the same thing up until recently. After seeing this Wasp sidekick deck, I realized that the ally is only one piece of the puzzle. You also have to look at the rest of the hero kit. And this is where things get interesting.
Let's go over the pros and cons for using sidekick with Psylocke
Cons:
- Weak stats on Angel
- Play ability, with no inherent reason to keep him around
Pros:
- Hero with base 3 ATK and 3 THW = high value from readying
- A hero that benefits from going to alter ego, and can safely do so
- Massive turn 1 build potential with her 2 Psi-Weapons. Can easily play Angel, Sidekick, and another card on the first turn.
- Access to Psychic Kicker and Soaring Hearts, with the ability to recur them with alter ego ability
- Access to Uncanny X-Force for +1 THW and no consequential damage
- Ability to draw Target Practice with Training Regimen
Not too much else to say here. Put all the upgrades on Angel, and fight Side-by-Side. Double dip on the stat boost with Psychic Kicker or Soaring Hearts. Warren needs Sidearm out before you can buff him with Target Practice, but you can still play them out and wait until you are ready. For allies, I just picked some good X-Force ones that I like. You can swap for others from that team as you wish.
Psylocke is really good at boosting her allies, and she loves getting some extra readies at the same time. So it turns out, she can make a pretty darn good Sidekick deck! Let me know what you think, and if I changed your mind on how you view this card at all. Maybe there's even more heroes that we've all overlooked. I'm interested to see what else you can come up with!

Jan 21, 2025Dude, this is an awesome use of Sidekick and definitely one I've overlooked in trying. But now I want to! I was focusing on my Angel hero version using Psylocke as a Sidekick to get more readies out of Angel/Archangel. Well done! Psychic Kicker is just the chef's kiss and I'm always looking for a good use of Target Practice. |

I just published my deck I had been working on. There are some pretty clear differences, and that just makes me excited to try your version too.
I made sure I waited to read through your list until I got mine out so that I wasn't tempted to make any changes to it that would have been influenced by you.
I'm going to shoutout your description options. Bolding the Links and including the image are a huge plus. I also really like that you included the Sidearm and Target Practice cards. I basically leaned into the idea of using more Psionic cards with Team-Building Exercise and Psimitar as my ways of doing additional damage output.
I also really like how you leaned into Uncanny X-Force and allies to match it. That is a fantastic focus to go into!
I am more than happy to test both builds out next time I get to. My friends and I tend to play multiplayer on the weekends we meet up. So, I'll get some instant feedback if they think I wasn't pulling my weight due to either of our card choices or due to them thinking I didn't pilot it well enough lol.
I normally won't link to my decks in other peoples comments, but I absolutely linked to this deck in the description of mine, right at the top lol.
The Psionic build I was working on: My Heart and Yours!
