While reviewing heroes that would make good candidates for Disguise, it occurred to me that SP//dr would be a fantastic candidate. Once you have four specific cards out (Disguise, Heroic Intuition, Host Spider, and Psychic Link) you should be able to remove 10 threat a turn on most turns (every turn, if you don't mind not blocking!).
When in Alter-Ego, you can exhaust Peni Parker and Disguise to remove 2 threat. Then, when you change to Hero form, your identity is already ready, since it's a completely different card. That lets you thwart for 2 (3 with Heroic Intuition). Host Spider lets you ready and thwart again. If you have Psychic Link, add 2 more to one of those.
Since you should be flipping every turn, Lay Down the Law can help you thwart the turn you flip up. Or, as another option, turn one of those big thwarts to an even bigger one with Making an Entrance (since you probably didn't recover, this may be ideal).
One Way or Another helps with SP//dr's pitiful handsize, and gives you a target to attach Chance Encounter to as way to go get VEN#m. Already another side scheme out? Even the Odds can help with that! You should have the required energy resource from Speed-Metal Alloy every other turn, at least.
Need more cards than that? Avenger's Mansion should increase your handsize by 33%. You can also exhaust your SP//dr Suit to draw 2 cards in Alter-Ego, then play Ready to Rumble so that when you flip up, you can still do all that promised thwarting.
Too much threat removal? Swift Retribution will help give you something to do, and help with damage. This way, you shouldn't get bored if you are too good at your job. You very well might be.
