Friends For Life

While not always harked on, Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman have an almost sisterly relationship in the comics, especially in modern iterations. It's a bond that really comes alive in this build, with the intent of getting Captain Marvel on the board ASAP and keeping her there for, ideally, the rest of the game. That's not to say that she's integral to having the deck function; in dire circumstances, she has saved both Spider-Woman and other players from near-death experiences. But the extra card draw that comes from her activating is incredibly powerful, especially when all the cards on display are so dang cheap.

As with many decks, a good mulligan is key. Here, your list of priorities looks something like this:

  • Captain Marvel
  • A copy of Call for Aid
  • Copies of Finesse
  • Jessica Drew's Apartment

Obviously, you want to get Carol in play quickly, and drawing into her is ideal so you don't burn through a good portion of your deck looking for her. Finesse is secondary but still a big deal, as you still want to pay for as many Aspect cards each turn as possible. And Jessica's apartment gives you another chance at digging for a good card if you find yourself mulligan-ing into junk.

From there, you'll spend a good portion of your game playing cards that keep you and Carol alive while buffing you up for some decent activations. First Aid, Ready for Action, United We Stand, Innovation, Rapid Response, and Reinforced Suit are all here to keep Carol hardy all game, allowing you a free activation and card-draw each turn. Call for Aid lets you put her back in play if, worst-case scenario, she's defeated for some reason.

Most of the other cards on display are low-cost thwarting options that will let you control the board for a companion to lay in some damage. Clear the Area can get you even more card draw, Justice Served is great when you can thwart for up to 6 in a single activation, and Skilled Investigator is a phenomenal card, acting as a thematic and cheap way to draw even more cards.
