Tbh, just try the deck. Flip every turn, unless it means straight up losing. You'll have all the resources and cards you want. try to keep 3 allies alive, tanking for them and flipping to heal. Then you get to do lethal intents of 3-5 very often. In 2 players it easy to force to never be the first player and start in hero mode. That allows you to 100% of the times use lethal intent as an action in the other player's turn. An ally that can confuse the villain is recommended.
Villains with short schemes (i'm looking at Crossbones or Ultron) are not the best for this gamestyle.
Rapid response is only there in case you are having trouble keeping your allies alive (Groot). If you are not having trouble at all, just tech them out for whatever.
