I noticed while watching the latest stream but was unable to comment in the chat in time. You are allowed to be attacked in Alter-Ego mode. You guys seem to keep skipping it. See page 26 "I see you" of the current rules reference for precedent.

There is no card in the sets they used - basic, expert, Ultron or doomsday - which permits the villain to attack alter ego.
