Drax the Eternal slashes the world

I really really like Drax, he is a protection-focused hero who can deal massive damage while he can stay in Hero form. And he can be in hero form most the time :) Let’s see how:

Drax needs vengeance counters to work, not only to deal massive damage but to exceptionally thwart and draw extra cards. The problem is vengeance counters come from villain attacks and villain attacks usually reduce Drax life :)

How to keep Drax in hero form forever

Mantis + Med Team

Mantis can heal 3 hit points to Drax, she has 3 hit points combined with Med Team she can heal herself another 3 hit points which translates into 9 times using her ability to heal hit points to Drax (27 hit points healed). This combo is nuts.

If you need extra time to setup it, Endurance will buy you some.

Give Drax an extra 1 def with Armored Vest is a must because you will defend a lot so limit all the damage with Subdue and Desperate Defense to draw extra cards with Unflappable is a good idea. If the attack deals you damage have an emergency Indomitable to ready Drax and be able to do an attack in your turn.

Drax is a guardian so you can use Shake it Off to gain extra turns in Hero form.

Thwarting

The best way to deal with the Main Scheme is to use (2x) Intimidation when having 3 vengeance counters and Drax's Knife. Your thwart will be at 5 and with 2 copies of Bait and Switch you can deal with early side schemes while your vengeance counters grow.

Rocket Raccoon can be really useful to make some support in this area plus dealing with minions with overkill are always welcomed.

Hard to Ignore also removes everyday threat while defending and preventing damage, a thing you definitely should do.

Get Behind Me! can prevent Advance while gives you an extra vengeance token or an extra card.

Another everyday problems

The regular way to make damage with Drax every turn is exhausting his Hero card and do basic attacks, the major problem with this is … what if Drax is stunned? Well, The Night Nurse got you covered for 3 turns while healing another hit point each. Problem solved even if minions appears, Knife Leap can deal with them. Tough cards can be removed with Knife Leap, Martinex and Counter-Punch.

Recap + Tips

• Mantis + Med Team will heal you.
• Counterpunch can deal massive damage (5!) even if you are exhausted.
• Defending with some boost (Vest, Desperate Defense and Subdue) makes life easier so you can draw 1 card with Unflappable and remove threat with Hard to Ignore.
• Drax´s Other Knife can kill some low-life minions by itself with its retaliate. Take it into account to keep targeting the villain with his basic attack. If not, use Leading Blow to remove those 1-2 remaining hit points in minions to not waste your basic attack in them.
