Drax - Doesn't Run from a fight, or dance.

This build is built around reducing the damage Drax takes from attacks, so he can get his full vengeance counters up.

First turn: Mulligan hard for Drax upgrades, Drax's Knife, DWI Theet Mastery or Mantis.

Your goal is to get your Vengeance counters up to three as fast as possible. (Defend for your teammate in villain phase) Main goal for this is that once Drax is at 3 vengeance counters, he draws a card after EVERY Villain attack.(Forced Response) Once, you are at three counters Drax's base ATK is 4. With Drax's Knife it becomes an ATK of 5! This makes Leading Blow AMAZING! The most boost icons you could see on most cards is 3, so it most it can lower his attack is by 3 meaning you get to do 2 damage and ready. (WORST CASE) Use DWI Theet Mastery to draw a card after every basic attack.
During the villain phase use Preemptive Strike to defend for your teammates. 1.4 rules means if you play a defend event that makes Drax the new target....triggering a card draw (hero forced response) BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE Now that Drax is the target for the attack use Side Step, or Subdue to reduce the damage to near 0. Did Drax take a scratch? Use Shake it Off to give yourself a tough card. Really big attack coming? Use Parry to block double your STR....that could be up to 10 damage. Then follow up those villain attacks with Payback for a free 5 damage.

Now Drax is eventually going to need healing, this build has this covered as well. Mantis is Drax's signature ally and should only be used for healing Drax. 2 copies of Med Team allow you to heal Mantis by 2 three times. Should allow you to use Mantis for 9 turns or 27 HIT POINTS! Get out your second Med Team and keep the healing train going. At this point Drax laughs at the Villains pathetic attacks. The Night Nurse is included to remove stuns from Drax or heal Mantis.

If you can get Too Stubborn to Die out, it gives Drax an emergency escape. Hit Point dial hits 0, remove Too Stubborn to Die from the game, flip Drax to alter-ego and set his HP to 4.....but we aren't done. We need to remove the vengeance counters too for a heal of 2 each. So, you go from having almost died to being in alter-ego with 10 hp, one REC and your back at full HP (14) ready to start stacking vengeance counters again. Sometimes Drax it helps to have an ally around to block an extra strong attack or block for a teammate. Clea goes back into your deck after being defeated allowing you to use her several times per shuffle. Ironheart gives you a cheap blocker with a draw card. Mockingbird has always been a great ally, but she is a tad expensive for Drax.

This deck's cost threshold is really low to help with Drax's low hand size, but with the draw cards from DWI Theet Mastery and after getting 3 vengeance counters helps.

Once he is built up Drax can hit hard with his huge STR, but he only gets to attack once. Use "Fight Me, Coward!" and C.I.T.T. to be able to ready. Attack and obliterate minions with Knife Leap 10 attack with overkill all for FREE (with 3 vengence counters) YES PLEASE!!

Intimidation is great for removing a side scheme or lowering threat on the main scheme. It is often just enough to help out in a pinch on the threat side. (Also really the only way he is going to Thwart)

The cost curve of this deck is so low that I took out Strength, Genius and Energy as I didn't need them. I also kept the card count low to get those great Drax cards more often. But, with his low hand size he really don't churn his deck super fast so keep your card count low.

The only issue Drax has is when you need to discard cards to remove villain attachments, but that's why he brought a teammate.

I hope you enjoy this deck. Drax surprised me with how much damage he can put out in protection. (This is how Hulk should have felt)
